Do These Japanese Customs Seem Foreign To You?

Wash Your Clothes, No Wearing It Twice Without A Washing In Between

Something else you might see but hopefully not see as strange? Seeing an array of clothes drying outside on a clothesline early in the morning. This is because it is a custom for laundry to get done every day in a Japanese household. Why? It is considered inappropriate to wear a piece of clothing twice without washing it.

Though it might be considered extreme to do such a thing in some cultures, it is normal to do so in Japan. So much so that it is not out of place sometimes to hear others describe the people of Japan as perfectionists. We would like to think they are merely highly concerned with cleanliness.
