Clean Your Face With An Oshibori

The majority of Japanese restaurants give their customers a moist towel or piece of cloth called “Oshibori.” Said towels get used to clean your hands before consuming a meal and are typically kept on a corner of the table. 

Are you ready for the nuance? Well, here it comes – a great big caveat. There is a way not to use these towels – and here it is. It is considered inappropriate; even rude in some cases, for someone to use them to clean their face or to use them while eating, as a napkin.
