Beware Of The Automatic Taxi Doors

Most countries rely on the use of taxis to haul their visitors and citizens around. This is no exception in Japan, but there is one major difference between Japan and the rest of the world – on the taxicab front. We hope you’re taking notes, as this one is something to beware of if you should visit. 

Did you know that most taxis have automatic doors that open and close at will? As a foreigner, especially one in a hurry, you might try to open or close the door manually, which is not necessary – at all. If you try to do so, it is considered offensive, based on Japanese custom, so let the door open automatically.
