Respect Japanese Business Cards. AKA “Meshi”
Though the concept of business cards might seem outdated, some countries still rely on these antiquated forms of contact. One could even argue that as long as there is business culture, there will remain a need for business cards. Great news for printers and graphic designers.
If you find yourself in Japan as a foreigner – you are sure to receive a business card upon your first meeting with a potential business partner in the county. The business card, also called Meshi in Japan, is a representative of one’s business, and you respectfully collect it with both hands, it is usually wrapped in a small bow. Handle with care – otherwise, you run the risk of offending someone.
