Never Take A Dripping Umbrella Inside 

If you live in a place with two seasons, you understand how polarized those two can get. Sometimes during the rainy season in Japan, the country’s weather becomes unpredictable. Such weather lends itself to carrying a handy-dandy umbrella. This way, when it does rain, you are safe from getting wet. 

But when it does eventually rain, no matter the circumstance, it is seen as rude to enter a venue with a dripping-wet umbrella. For this reason, Japanese people place special boxes outside places to keep dripping umbrellas safe and outside. And can you imagine? Umbrellas kept in these boxes never get stolen. If it does get taken, it was an accident in most cases.
