Avoid Physical Touching Someone

Physical touching, even something as innocent as a tap on the shoulder, to something like a hug, and especially kisses, among close friends/family members, is not permissible. If you want to have a conversation with someone, you can do that, but you should avoid touching them. 

Something that is such a big part of Western and Eastern cultures is frowned upon in Japan, so that’s something you have to get used to if you visit. You might find this concept difficult to grasp, but we are sure that you can do it! It creates an interesting dynamic during a conversation, that is for sure.
