Watermelons Are Expensive, And Square
Did you know that in Japan some of their watermelons are square? Not all, but some watermelons got designed this way, as they can fit better in a refrigerator. Since the fruit got formed into its infamous square shape, it has become sort of like a decorative item.
Bet you didn’t figure these famous fruits would be so expensive, either. Did you? Well, one can set you back a whopping $160. Japanese farmers did not stop at square watermelons – as other shapes have gotten popularized, such as hearts and triangles. All of the fruits get grown in special containers or holds and can take years of practice to achieve the right shape.
