Do These Japanese Customs Seem Foreign To You?

If you are used to the freedom of finishing up your work then leaving for the day, Japan may not be the country for you to work in. Though such acts are commonplace in Western cultures, they are frowned upon in Japan. Simply put – you cannot leave work before your boss does. 

This means, even if you get done with your work for the day, you have to wait on your boss to leave before you can go home, kick your shoes off, and relax at the end of a long workday. You would hate to find yourself in unwanted trouble if not careful.
