#49: Deodorant Shelf Life
Outside Online reveals that while deodorants don’t have a strict expiry date, it’s best to use them within three years to ensure effectiveness. It’s rare for someone to hold onto a deodorant stick that long, but should you find an old one, know that its power might still linger, albeit with a recommended shelf life clearly marked on the product.
Typically, deodorants are stamped with an expiration timeline of one to three years. Beyond this period, the product’s effectiveness diminishes. Its ability to mask odors, the fresh scent, and even the texture can degrade, leaving it less effective. Time magazine warns that expired deodorant can also lose essential anti-bacterial properties, increasing the risk of unwanted bacterial growth.
