#29: Spices
Let’s be honest; most of us have spices hanging in the back of our kitchen cabinets that we haven’t touched for years. It’s tempting to think if they look and smell okay, they’re good to go. But that’s a misconception. Dried goods can indeed expire. Though not typically harmful, outdated spices lose their punch, robbing dishes of their full flavor potential.

It’s wise to refresh your spice collection every one to three years. While this isn’t a strict rule, more a matter of taste, regular checks ensure your culinary creations are always seasoned to perfection. Don’t let stale spices spoil your efforts in the kitchen; a routine spice rack audit can make all the difference.
