#52: Chocolate
While eating expired chocolate won’t harm you, according to Medical Daily, as it lacks a true expiration date, unlike meat or dairy. However, it does carry a ‘best by’ date indicating when its quality peaks. Post that date, expect a decline in its freshness and taste, but it remains safe for consumption.
While expired chocolate can still be eaten, anticipate a less enjoyable experience. Its texture may become softer, lacking the satisfying ‘snap’ when broken. This is particularly true for dark chocolate, which will also experience a noticeable reduction in its rich flavor intensity.
