#34: Flour
It’s common to find a bag of flour from Walmart sitting in the pantry, seemingly forgotten. Many keep it around for those rare baking moments, not realizing that flour has an expiry date, too. Regular flour remains good for up to six months, while premium varieties can last up to a year before they start losing their quality.
Flour that seems fine to the naked eye might actually be past its prime, harboring mold and spores or failing to perform as expected in recipes. Considering flour is relatively inexpensive, it’s wiser to err on the side of caution. Discard any flour you’re skeptical about and replenish your supply with a fresh bag.
