A lot of people are worked up about the wage imbalance in the US. They say that for every $1 a man makes, a woman makes something like $0.79. We’re not going to debate anyone about this, but we will say that in Japan, this is common and nondebatable.
By default, female workers who do the same jobs as their male counterparts will earn less. However, when it comes to household finances, the husband hands over every cent of his paycheck to the wife. So, if any women out there want to go to Japan to work, expect to receive a smaller pay than your male coworkers.
