Don’t jaywalk in Japan
You shouldn’t jaywalk anywhere, really, but in Japan, you shouldn’t do so out of fear of receiving a ticket. That’s right, they can issue tickets to pedestrians for breaking traffic laws. However, you might see some people, even natives, risk jaywalking to cut their walk time by a couple of minutes. But we wouldn’t recommend you do this because, you know, you’re not from there.

There have been countless cases of tourists being ticketed for jaywalking. Even though the probability of being caught is pretty low, the fine is super-steep. We don’t know about you, but cutting your walk time down by a few seconds isn’t worth potentially forking over $200.
