Anyone who knows even the tiniest bit about Japan knows about its capsule hotels. These hotels come with hundreds of rooms, or capsules, that fit a single person. There’s hardly any space to move, let alone eat or drink. If you’re hungry or thirsty, you need to exit the capsule and find somewhere else to do it.

These capsules were created to save as much space as possible. Japan, especially Tokyo, is a small, super-crowded island, and businesses need to make the most out of what little land they own. These rooms are pretty cheap, costing anywhere from $20 to $50 per night.
