Don’t fiddle around with chopsticks
Although you might have seen Japanese people eating everything, from rice to noodles and even pizza, using chopsticks on TV, that isn’t always the case. Forks, spoons, and knives are common in Japan. But if you do find yourself using chopsticks, you should never play around with them.
This includes pointing them at people, waving them around, or just general fiddling with them while waiting for food. Chopsticks are cultural pieces that you need to treat with the utmost respect, even the disposable ones you receive at roadside restaurants. Plus, as eating utensils, they have saliva on the ends of them, so you shouldn’t go flinging them around in the first place.
