Turn off your headlights at intersections
This rule is pretty weird to say the least. Never had we imagined there’d be a scenario where we would have to turn our car headlights off at night, unless we’re turning our car off. However, when driving in Japan, when stopping at traffic light, you should switch your lights off immediately.
The reason for doing this is common courtesy. Since you’re going to be at the intersection for a while, it’s rude to keep your lights flashing and in the eyes of motorists opposite of you. When the green light flashes, remember to turn them back on before stepping on the gas.
