#31: NASA
In 1958, a monumental shift saw the National Advisory Committee on Aeronautics evolve into NASA, as initiated by Dwight D. Eisenhower. Under James Modarelli’s creative direction, the iconic ‘meatball’ logo was birthed, symbolizing American pride and ambition in space exploration.
NASA’s visual identity continued to evolve, introducing the ‘worm’ logo for a modern aesthetic. However, nostalgia and recognition of its historic feats brought back the original ‘meatball’ design, appealing to a new, space-enthused generation and honoring its legacy.
