#44: Colgate Kitchen Entrees
Colgate, the titan of toothpaste, once ventured into the culinary world with their Kitchen Entrees range. A move as baffling as brushing your teeth with ketchup! Perhaps they hoped our palates would crave their toothpaste after tasting their food? Alas, this bizarre brand extension belly-flopped spectacularly. It seems the public just couldn’t stomach the idea of eating a meal from the same folks who make their minty mouthwash!
Surprisingly, the public just wasn’t keen on purchasing their frosty evening sustenance from a brand that was synonymous with the cool, crisp zing of mint. The fact that these frozen delicacies were rumored to be as bland and uninspiring as watching paint dry certainly didn’t help their cause. It was as if the brand had swapped their peppermint punch for the dull thud of a flavorless drum.
