#5: Man-from-Mars Radio Hat
In the era of smartphones, we’re spoilt with an infinite variety of audio content, a mere tap away as we saunter with our earphones plugged in. But, oh, the yesteryears weren’t this tech-savvy! Enter Victor T. Hoeflinch’s quirky invention of the late 1940s and early 1950s—The Man-from-Mars Radio Hat—a quirky contraption that allowed people to tune into their favorite radio channels while ambling around.
Without a doubt, the “Man from Mars” moniker was spot on. This quirky headgear gave its wearer the distinct look of a vintage space explorer. However, in the early 1950s, its production began to wane. It’s understandable, of course – after all, who in their right mind would want to lug around a full-blown radio on their noggin all day? We can’t blame them, really.
