#40: Gerber Singles
The culinary world is a playground of innovation, but occasionally, the food industry takes a wild detour. You’d imagine baby food creators would tread cautiously. However, Gerber’s 1974 adventure into the realm of adult baby food was a culinary misstep of epic proportions, proving that not all experiments yield tasty results. It was a bold, yet bizarre, attempt to expand their market, a gastronomic adventure that was met with raised eyebrows rather than forks.

In a baffling move, Gerber decided to launch Gerber Singles, a meat-infused puree with enticing flavors such as Beef Burgundy. They optimistically envisioned hip, young adults relishing this mushy delight. However, the trendy crowd unanimously declared, “Thanks, but no thanks!” The idea, as it turned out, was as appetizing as eating baby food… which, in retrospect, it quite literally was!
