Ken Griffey Jr. was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 1989 at 19. Throughout his career, he played for the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox and came back to the Mariners for his last two years in the MLB. Over the course of his 22 years, “The Kid” was nominated as MVP numerous times, played in the All-Star games 13 times, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016.

The Kid’s rookie card was to become one of the most expensive cards of all time. While it may not have reached those heights, Griffey Jr. has become one of Baseball’s biggest icons, and one of these 1989 rookie cards can sell for around $400.
