Although this isn’t the most expensive card on the list, it is considered one of the rarest cards in the hobby of sports cards. Christy Mathewson, also known by his nicknames “Big Six,” “The Christian Gentleman,” “Matty,” and “The Gentleman’s Hurler,” played seventeen seasons with the New York Giants as a right-handed pitcher.

As we’ve already mentioned, the 1914 Cracker Jack set and the 1915 set were almost identical, only the 1915 set was usually found in better condition (since the precious cards didn’t have any caramel stains on them). However, while most images were identical between the two sets, the image of Mathewson was different – making this card exceptionally rare.
