Polish wedding from the Lowicz Area
While many couples these days abandon the traditional wedding customs and instead choose to have a “modern” wedding ceremony, you could still find traditional weddings around the country. A traditional bridal gown in Poland is a white dress embroidered with flowers. The bride also wears an eye-catching headpiece attached to a veil, called a Welon.

The groom’s outfit and hat are also adorned with flowers, to match the bride’s attire. One interesting traditional custom is when the bride covers the groom’s shoe with her dress, during the ceremony, to symbolize her dominance in the marriage. The flower crown isn’t just for aesthetic reasons, but it symbolizes a fertile marriage.
