Bride and groom in Ghana
Some of us think that wedding proposals are supposed to be an intimate moment between the bride-and-groom-to-be, while others make a spectacle out of it and invite their friends and family to take part in the happy moment. In Ghana, they don’t get to choose: according to tradition, when a man wants to propose, he visits the bride’s home with his family in tow.
As far as the outfits go, the outfits are traditionally very bright and colorful; the couple matches the pattern of their outfits to the families’ unique cloth pattern (they all have one), and to one another. The fabric of the wedding outfits is called Kente, a local fabric hand-made in Ghana.
