Malay wedding
In Malaysia, weddings are often held according to Muslim tradition. The brides wear a sarong and a long dress, covering their arms and legs completely; they often come in delicate colors, such as purple, violet or cream, and embroidered with golden threads. Traditionally, the bride and groom cover their heads with different fabrics of their choice.
The traditional clothing for the groom is called baju melayu and includes a long-sleeved shirt and trousers in a color that matches the bride’s outfit, also embroidered with golden threads. Before the wedding ceremony takes place, there is a two-day preparation throughout which the bride visits the groom’s house and cooks him a meal for the first time.
