#37: Stronger Crops

At first glance, we thought this was another Hulk ad, similar to the Band-Aid ad we saw earlier. However, we’re not looking at The Hulk’s torso, but lettuce. It’s a body of lettuce. The closeup angle of the lettuce makes it look like abs, and the green color creates an association with The Hulk—which is probably what they were going for.

At the bottom, it says, “Grow stronger crops.” That’s funny because they don’t mean the crops would be physically stronger, like the photo suggests. Lettuce can’t have abs! But that’s what makes this ad so great. It’s a play on words and on our imagination—an illusion of sorts. Well done, Agroleaf Power.
