#54: Close Call

This aerial shot of a devastated farmland comes from Germany, where several days of heavy rain and flooding caused a massive washout. The extreme weather in the summer of 2021 caused flooding and damage across Germany and parts of Austria. The person who posted this photo was personally affected.

When they saw this photo making its way around the internet, they recognized it immediately. This massive washout happened mere miles from their own home. It was just chance that prevented their home from being completely destroyed and their lives being lost. It’s events like this that remind us how powerful and terrifying rain and flooding can truly be.
