There aren’t Very Many People Available to Date.
A man whose name was Charlie wrote on a billboard that his mother played the role of matchmaker in his family’s courtship and marriage, which is how Charlie’s parents first met. It is said that Charlie’s father had a crush on someone else before he met her, but she rejected him when he asked her out. Initially, he was apprehensive about dating one of the other sisters in the family; nevertheless, he quickly came to a different conclusion about the matter. It was a foregone conclusion that this other sister and Charlie’s mother would eventually get close.
The question that needs to be answered is whether or not they would have run into each other if Charlie’s grandmother hadn’t stepped in. Although this may still be the case in some rural communities that are home to large families, in times past it was much more likely to be the norm. Because there were fewer individuals to choose from when it comes to dating in the days before the internet, mothers had a stronger influence in the process. This is because there were less people to choose from.
