Sami wedding, Scandinavia
The different countries comprising Scandinavia share some of their cultural customs, including a number of wedding rituals. The Sami people one of the largest surviving cultural groups in the area, and they stretch across parts of Norway, Sweden and Finland. Since they live on a vast area, the design of the wedding dress differs from area to area.
The traditional wedding outfits differ from area to area, as well as from person to person. For example, the style and color of the outfits (as well as the abundance of jewelry) depends on the social status of the couple getting married. The same rules apply to the wedding guests, not just the bride and groom.
