This seems like something my sister would do. She’s an awful cook. I can see her spreading jam on the bread before toasting it. That’s what happened to this poster. Her sister came over and used her brand new toasting machine to prepare breakfast and created a huge faux pas.

This is up there with spreading butter on the bread! Nothing should go in your toaster but plain bread, a seasoned bagel, or toaster strudel. Anything that can melt should wait until after the bread is nice and toasty, okay? I guess the exception would be iced pop tarts, but those are specifically designed to last a toasting session without damage.
