Barefoot shopping is normal
There are some norms and social conventions in human society that we follow, unspoken rules we all live by. One of those conventions is that walking around barefoot in the street, inside a grocery store that sells food, or inside the mall is frowned upon. It’s not illegal to walk around barefoot, it’s simply considered weird.
However, in Australia, they have a different approach to walking barefoot. In the land Down Under, it’s perfectly normal to go shopping without shoes. We’re just here to remind you the reason we wear shoes is that it’s practical (provided these shoes aren’t high heels) – it hardly seems comfortable walking around barefoot, and in a grocery store no less, where people can run over your foot with a shopping cart.
