While in the U.S., we raise cats and dogs as pets, and some of us might keep a chicken, a pig or other farm animals – provided they have a farm – that’s pretty much as far as we get when pets are concerned. Dogs and cats are great, don’t get us wrong, but wouldn’t you love having a quokka as a pet? Of course, you’d have to know what a quokka is, first.
A quokka is a mammal about the size of a domestic cat from the wallaby family, native to Australia. It is commonly found in an island near Perth, and thanks to their cute features and friendly “smile”, it’s known as “the happiest animals in the world.” However, as cute as they may seem, quokkas can be dangerous, and not many people know, but due to the harsh climate conditions of Australia, they are an endangered species.
