McDonald’s is Macca’s
In Australia, they have a habit of making abbreviations and shortening syllables. Why say the full word when you can say it faster? In lieu of McDonald’s, following that line of shortening syllables, they call the famous fast-food chain “Macca’s.” The nickname is so inherent in their language, that it became the official name for the fast-food restaurants.
It even appears on the signs. Aussies can’t be bothered to say the full name, so they’ve come up with an alternative, shorter name for the American fast-food chain, However, while the name is different, the burgers are the same old burgers we’re all familiar with.
