Whether we like it or not, our home and where we grew up is a big part of who we are. Although they may all share a similar ending, all of your favorite celebrities started their journeys in very different ways. Coming from all over the U.S., these 50 celebrities made their way through good times and bad to make it big in the entertainment industry and work hard to be where they are today. We may see them as the characters we have come to love, but those characters we’re all too familiar with are definitely not who they are off-screen. Who’s the one born and raised in your hometown?
Channing Tatum
Channing Matthew Tatum was born in Cullman, Alabama, in 1980. This Hollywood heartthrob was voted most athletic in high school (not a big surprise), and then went into college with a football scholarship which was short-lived. Not long after dropping out, Tatum held down a job as a roofer, dancer, stripper, and a model.
In 2006, after working in varied jobs, he finally found his true calling as an actor, with his breakthrough role in the romantic drama Step Up (where he exhibits his dancing skills). You will see Channing walking the streets wearing Alabama gear, and although he may have only lived there during his younger years, he still to this day will tell you he will always be an Alabama man.
