Let It Snow is a New York Times bestseller. The book was released in 2008. Luke Snellin will direct the book-to-movie adaptation. The screenplay which was initially written by Kay Cannon has been revised by screenwriters Michael Weber and Scott Neustadter.
2. Fifty Shades: Freed (Release: 9th February 2018)
If you are a fan of the Fifty Shades trilogy, get started with Fifty Shades: Freed. After accepting Christian Grey’s proposal (in Fifty Shades Darker), Anastasia Steel has to adjust to married life as well as her new husband’s controlling nature and wealthy lifestyle. The book is set to be the last installment of the Fifty Shades trilogy. It will be interesting seeing how this book-to-movie adaptation unfolds when it is released on 9th February 2018, just before Valentine’s Day. The erotic romance by E. L. James will star Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. Fifty Shades Freed is already a New York Times Bestseller. The film has been directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson.
3. A Wrinkle in Time (Release: 9th March 2018)
Madeleine L’Engle book is yet another anticipated book-to-movie adaptation set to be released on 9th March 2018. The upcoming American Science fantasy movie is written by Jennifer Lee and directed by Ava DuVernay. The adaptation is based on a 1963 novel about siblings, Meg Murray and Charles Wallace alongside a friend, Calvin O’Keefe, going on an extraordinary adventure through time to save their father. Walt Disney Pictures announced that they were going to retain film rights for the live-action adaptation back in October 2010. The movie boasts of a production budget of more than $100 million dollars and a cast list packed with stars like; Reese Witherspoon and Oprah Winfrey. Storm Reid, Zach Galifianakis, Chris Pine and Mindy Kaling will also be in the film.
4. Ready Player One (Release: 30th March 2018)
This is another book-to-film adaptation that is worth your time. Ready Player One is a science fiction novel by Ernest Cline. The novel, which was published in August 2011, is set in an undesirable/frightening environment where protagonist Wade Watts goes searching for an Easter egg in a VR game. His virtual reality escapade leads him to inherit a fortune in a wrecked world facing an energy crisis. The film adaptation has been directed by renowned movie director Steven Spielberg. The movie which is currently in production is set to premiere on 30th March 2018. If you love virtual reality, video games, and Steven Spielberg films, this is one film adaptation you don’t want to miss. The movie will star Simon Pegg and T.J. Miller.
5. Ophelia (Release: 2018)
If you love Shakespeare books, grab a copy of Ophelia. This book is great for Shakespeare Hamlet fans since it is based on Ophelia, a character in the play. Ophelia is set to be one of the greatest film adaptations of 2018 given the success of many movie themes associated with Ophelia i.e., Dying Like Ophelia (2002) and Ophelia Learns to Swim (2000). Furthermore, the film adaptation will feature movie stars like Daisy Ridley as Ophelia and Tom Felton (as her brother). Naomi Watts will also be in the film. 6. Bel Canto (Release: 2018)Bel Canto by Ann Patchett is yet another bestseller film adaptation set to hit the big screen in 2018. Bel Canto is Ann Patchett’s 4th novel published in 2001. This much-anticipated film adaptation will be directed by Paul Weitz and feature stars like Julianne more (as Roxane) alongside Demian Bichir and Ken Watanabe. Bel Canto is about an American soprano who is set to perform at a private concert in South America. The adaptation plays out the events surrounding her performance which is crashed by guerrilla forces. Bel Canto is based on real-life events (a Japanese embassy hostage situation) that happened in Peru in the 1990s.
