Keep It Under the Rug
We’re pretty confident this is a bad attempt at covering up something jetting up out of the floor. Even though we have to give the designer props for putting in all that extra effort just to hide a tiny spot, it probably would have looked better just left alone, no matter what was originally under there.

We can definitely see it also being a unique way of creating a built-in door stopper. Keeping it matching the rest of the floor with carpet and trimming was definitely going the extra mile. But was it worth it? Sometimes the easier way is the best way. There’s no need to over-think everything.
