Olympic Sport of Beating the Commercials
I remember when I was a teen, my mom let my sister and I get up early before school to watch our favorite show. This meant that during every commercial break, we had to scramble to eat breakfast, brush our teeth, get our supplies together, and get dressed. One day of being late or complaining meant we lost our favorite show.
I can’t imagine what our mom must’ve felt like, waking up to us yelling at each other to hurry up because the show was starting again. But that wasn’t the only time we hurdled over the couch to make sure we didn’t miss something on TV. It became a challenge to get chores done before the commercials ended.
