Don’t step too close
If you’ve ever traveled to London, you’re probably familiar with the metro announcement “mind the gap.” First used in 1968, the phrase “mind the gap” got its start when the London Underground was planning an automated announcement. Because they wanted the phrase to be short and sweet, “mind the gap” seemed like a perfect fit. Being safe is never a bad thing, of course!
But it is funny to see just how often Brits need to be reminded to mind that gap. If you’re ever in a train station or underground, you might also hear the phrases “take care of the gap” or “watch the gap.” Either way, just make sure to stay safe and be responsible. Falling into this gap could have some major consequences that you will not like.
