#36: The Stages of Human Bodily Decay
It’s strange to think that one day our bodies will one day decay, but it will happen to all of us. Although this chart is a little creepy, it shows us the different stages of human decay as represented on fingers. In the first stage we are fresh, like how are hands looks when we’re alive. Things go downhill quickly from there.
Beyond the fresh stage, we bloat and change a little in color. To hide this stage, formaldehyde is used to preserve our bodies for funerals. After we bloat, there is active decay where the animals, bacteria, and fungi have at us. Following this, there is a period of advanced decay. In the end, all that is left of us are dry remains.
