#27: Wordcloud of Angela Merkel’s Speeches
You must be familiar with the phrase “the pen is mightier than the sword,” which means words have power. That’s why it’s important to choose your words carefully, especially if you’re the leader of a country and you’re speaking to an entire nation. This graphic shows the words Angela Merkel had used in her speeches over the last four years.
It’s no surprise to see the word “Germany” was used more often than everything else; that is, after all, the nation she’s speaking to. We also see words such as “must”, “know”, “become” and “need”, which are often used to persuade people or drive them to take action. It’s interesting to see what words world leaders use most often in their speeches and there’s a lot we can learn from it!
