The killer doesn’t fall far from the killer tree
In Pulp Fiction, Butch Coolidge inherits a watch from his father, which has been through quite a lot, including wars. However, Butch is the only person in his family who possessed the watch and never found himself in dangerous situations. He really was an upstanding person before Tarantino made Pulp Fiction.
However, before Butch can pass the watch to his children, he himself needs to go through a series of dangerous events, which is what happens to him throughout the movie. First, he’s a killer, then he gets caught, then he bonds with a fellow captor and escapes. This perfectly mirrors what his father did.
