The Adventures of Tintin: Honoring Hergé
Spielberg’s debut animated film was 2011’s The Adventures of Tintin. It was based on the Belgian comic made by Georges Prosper Remi, whose pen name was Hergé. The film didn’t perform nearly as well in theaters as the studios had hoped, but it did make 50% of its profits from Blu-Ray sales.
The creator of Tintin passed away in 1983, so Spielberg had to find a way to honor the man who created the nostalgic comics. At the beginning of the film, the man painting Tintin was actually a CGI version of the Hergé. How very befitting, seeing as how he was the man who brought Tintin to life in a visual format.
