Believe it or not, there was actually quite a bit of resistance when the seatbelt became a mandated feature in all new cars. Back then, a lot of people viewed seatbelts as an inconvenience—that it made their butts uncomfortable when sitting on the seatbelts.
Protesters did everything to try to get seatbelts out of cars, even though it was already medically proven that seatbelts were less traumatic to your body than airbags. Well, with the same community of Karens getting riled up about “muh rights being infringed upon” in today’s society, you can tell who the world is going to laugh at 50 years from now.
