The Parking Paradox
When one person does not follow the rules, we see them as a nonconformist or a rebel. When everybody doesn’t follow the rules there is anarchy. Or maybe not? This situation doesn’t look very anarchic to me. It’s obvious that the city planners wanted everybody to park on one side of the road – that’s why they painted those white lines on the ground – but even though everyone did the opposite, the situation still looks pretty organized to me.
Everybody decided – for whatever reason – to park on the other side of the road. Maybe the view there is better – who knows? Now, if you want to park on that street and you see that everyone is parked on the wrong side, what would you do? Does parking on the wrong side, like everybody else, make you a conformist or a nonconformist? Difficult question.
