The controlling fungus
This fungus will have you reconsider your zombie movie preferences. Cordycipitaceae is a fungus belonging to the genus Cordyceps that can infect and live inside animals’ bodies. That’s not even the scariest part about this thing. This mold appears to be somewhat terrifying, but the image below reveals what it’s truly capable of.
The Cordycipitaceae family not only lives and takes up residence within its host, but it can also control the body of the creature it inhabits. This is not a lie or part of a horror film’s plot. The fungus enters the insect or animal’s muscles and moves it to where it thinks is best for it. We hope you don’t have any bad dreams about this tonight.
