A *Real* Doctor
When people describe themselves as doctors when they have a Ph.D. in a discipline that has nothing to do with medicine, it might be difficult to determine their level of expertise. It makes sense technically; you may call yourself a doctor because you have the qualifications, but let’s not muddy the water by overstating your talents, right?
We’ve never found ourselves in a position like this, but we expect that when someone calls for a doctor in a public place, they generally want the help of a medical professional, not someone who just finished their thesis on the complexities of statistics and mathematics.
