The most beautiful suicide
Evelyn McHale was a bookkeeper who committed suicide by jumping off the 86th-floor Observation Deck of the Empire State Building. She wanted her family to remember her body in its entirety, but a photograph taken by a passing student altered that plan.
Most people would find the aftermath of a suicide gruesome, but when Evelyn crashed into the parked limousine on the first floor, her death was graceful. The image spread around quickly, and people were more interested in her captivating dead photos than they were in the reason for her death.
