Shaka Shaka Chicken (Japan)
There are only a few food choices in the world that you get to add the spices and flavors on your own, especially on a fast food chain. This is what you’ll get to do if you order chicken cutlets in Japan. This is Shaka Shaka Chicken, courtesy of McDonald’s Japan. Sounds familiar? That’s because you have to ‘shake shake’ the chicken first.
The whole idea of this is to add a different flavor to your usual chicken patty by shaking it with a packet of powdered spices. It’s a little bit like the Philippines’ Shake Shake Fries. You can choose from 3 different flavors: pepper, cheese, and lemon. It’s served in a folded-over paper pouch with easy-to-follow picture instructions, and even English words are thrown in in case you get confused!
