Darlene immediately set up the facility to accept as many wolf dogs as she could care for. However, after receiving between 15 and 20 phone calls a day from individuals wanting to turn their dogs over, she became overwhelmed.
Darlene received many concerned calls from individuals who could no longer care for their wolf dogs. Darlene found that 80% of wolf-dog litters end up in shelters where the animals are put down after 1 to 3 days.
